As one of Jesus’ closest disciples, John wrote this book as an eyewitness account of Jesus’ ministry. John makes it clear that Jesus is not just a man; He is the eternal Son of God.

No one can come to Jesus unless the Father draws him in. This painting is vertical because it is showing God’s love coming down into the world, those are HIS arms inviting each person to follow Him. If we do, we’ll have light and eternal life. Compare that to the person in the darkness at the bottom of the painting who has become part of this world by closing his eyes and ears to God. “Whoever believes in the SON has eternal life, but whoever rejects the SON will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.”
