In this strong, straightforward and practical letter, Paul identifies the problems, offers solutions and teaches the new believers how to live for Christ in a corrupt society. He knows that becoming a new believer is a process. So, he continually points them in the right direction as they learn to live differently. They’re to examine their values and work towards living a Christ-centered life and to not blend in with their current culture.
This horizontal piece shows the process of a person growing in their walk of faith. The left side has imagery of darkness, sin and chaos. Notice that there is no chaos on the gold path (gold = God).
The large hand depicts the loving, yet forceful way God (through Paul) teaches and corrects us. As the person begins their walk with God, the darkness is still in and around them, but the longer they continue walking with and towards God, they gradually leave more of their old life behind. It IS a process and a life-long journey. But if we’re listening, God is always guiding us, and we will look differently as we grow in the light of Christ.
