This second letter by Paul is more personal than the first. In it, he defends his authority and lists his credentials, which wasn’t easy for this humble servant. Paul was also deeply concerned about people possibly falling for false teachers and those who were twisting the truth (depicted in my painting by the wolf in sheep’s clothing). His words are of love, urgency and encouragement.
The vibrant heart at the center of the painting represents Paul bearing all for Christ and the believers in Corinth. The cross shows that Christ is at the core from which everything flows. Paul has a heart for fellowship and unity for these new believers, so he admonishes and encourages them. He also teaches that the Kingdom of God spreads through sacrificial giving and through a growing genuine concern and an eagerness to help others. This is depicted in the imagery towards the top of the heart with one person giving money to another.
